Hey Peoples!
In the 2006 I had the privalege of meeting Chuck D. I asked him "What advice would you give me as a women entering hip hop?" he told me to know that it is only the women who can CHANGE HIP HOP at this point so do your thing. WE are out of balance. Men have created that but women can restore it. he then Digned my copy of "A People's History" with "To Kaly-Keep in Mind the She-movement." I am proud to say I have done so. In my own art and by getting my women heard.
They keep asking "Where are the women of hip hop?" My answer: EVERYWHERE! And This is just one of the many places that you can find them! I rock with them daily. I record them in the booth (I engineer as well). I come across them all the time and bump them all day long in my itunes. Ask me who are the male emcees out right now- I couldn't tell you much. Ask me about the femcees and I got you covered.
In this blog I will share with you the women I have rocked with and the women I have come across. As Well as be a connect for those who want to get their music on college radio (fifthelament@gmail.com).
Yes I am a (f)Emcee as well (www.5thelament.com)- so my love for lyricism shines through in the tracks and artsists I choose. Excited to get it poppin. Glad to be a part of the She-movement. Leeees go!
Hope and Triumph-
